Tuesdays With The Team: Jayme Loge

I don’t know how things are where you sit, but from where I am, I am shocked that September is over and we are halfway through October and past Thanksgiving. There is a strange sort of chaos that has settled over my life; in addition to fall activities and full-time work, we have been renovating our basement – including my scrapbook area. To get ready for carpet, the space was packed into the garage. And then carpet was delayed. It has been installed and a week ago, we started to move everything back into our family room. Our cars are back in the garage, and I settled in to work on my blog project, excited about getting back to work in my ‘work in progress’ space.  I originally had another thought for the blog post (altered craft pumpkins!) but ironically, I couldn’t find any of the things I wanted to use. I guess things did not get put back where they started… I am sure I will stumble on my googley eyes and lace tomorrow!

Not one to be daunted by such things, I realized I had an opportunity to play with something I have been wanting to tackle for a while – using a chevron pattern. I went with the folding technique – cutting a line to the centre of my paper strip on alternating sides and then folding back the little triangle pieces- because I like the bit of added texture and dimension the chevron strip will have on the page.

And then I went off-roading… I thought to myself, “What would happen if I didn’t exactly alternate sides when I cut into the centre?”  So I tried doubling up a few of the cut lines. I was happy with that bit of randomness!

I layered the chevrons together and built my page from there. I was thinking about the pace that surrounds me and the needs of others I juggle into my days. I also realized we are so fortunate to have a busy and abundant life, and there is nothing that I would want to leave out or behind, and so I need to find moments of stillness to maintain balance for myself. So I added a quote attributed to Buddha. It reads like this:

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future,
or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” ~ Buddha

Supplies Used: Patterned Paper, stickers and chipboard: BoBunny; Ink, Glitter: Clearsnap; Dies: Sizzix, Spellbinders; Flowers: Prima; Chipboard: Quick Quotes

Hey! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to correct this problem. If you have any recommendations, please share. With thanks!
