CHA: Brother ScanNCut

There was something extra special about the Brother™ booth at the Craft & Hobby show this year when we went to visit.  As you know, the Brother ScanNCut electronic cutting machine debuted last year at CHA…it is the first machine that scans images and cuts as well.

One of their displays was a Spring Garden Party ‘tablescape’….designed by me :)

I designed and cut this tablecloth and napkins with Kelly Panacci’s new fabric from Riley Blake Designs Ltd.  The butterflies are iron-on material from Brother.  There is a wide assortment of colours and types of heat-applied materials, such as glitter and holographic.

The white doily is cut from vinyl and applied to a clear plastic plate.  The placemats, napkin rings, gift boxes and butterfly garland are all cut from Bazzill cardstock.  Can you see that daisy name sticker on the pink gift box?  The ScanNCut also has sticker kits available.

There is a new rhinestone kit too, for those of you who like sparkle and bling!

The ScanNCut can cut an incredible variety of materials, which was being demo’ed at the booth.

Applique and quilting are so easy with the ScanNCut.  And the designs can be very intricate for all materials, too.

With all the different heat-applied materials, the iron-on transfers can be so much fun!  Using the online free software or the ScanNCut library in the machine, you can design anything at all and cut it out, then iron it on!

Brother has also released 4 new collections of cut files for both quilters and paper crafters.

  2. I got one for Christmas and haven’t tried it yet. I make greeting cards and that’s why I received the SNC. Are there any place I can go on FB to get lessons? Appreciate answer. Thanks.

Marietta Austin, on FB look for the “scan n cut users help each other” group, also Brother’s own page which is called Brother Crafter. The other place to go is Youtube where there are a TON of videos.

  8. I do agree with all of the concepts you have offered in your post. They are really convincing and can definitely work. Still, the posts are very short for novices. May just you please extend them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
