Tuesday with the Team with Nicole Wright

Hello everyone let me introduce myself, I’m Nicole Wright. I’m new to the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Team and I’m thrilled to be creating for you.  I love all things vintage, grungy especially creating 3D Projects.  I love using my collection of Sizzix dies so you’ll be seeing a lot of that from me.  For my first project for Tuesday with the Team I decided to create something to honor Remembrance Day.

Photo7

I started with Sizzix Jumbo Tattered Floral for the Poppy creating 4 flowers for a full Poppy. Then I grabbed my Magenta Nuance Powders.  This is my first time using them and WOW…a little goes a long way!  Using a dry paint brush a couple flicks of powder onto watercolor paper and spritz with water.

The Magenta Nuance give a bold vibrant look to this Poppy! I used my heat gun to dry the flowers.  To create the center of the flower I used the Tiny Tattered Floral cutting with my Sizzix Magnetic Platform.

Photo 2

Using the provided quiling tool roll the flower and I like to use a little hot glue to keep it together. I inked the edges of the Poppu with Ranger’s Ground Espresso Distress Ink.   Then stamped with the same Ground Espress Distress Ink just the top of the Magenta Heart stamp.  I love this flourish!

I stamped the center of the Poppy and the tips of each petal.

If you don’t reload the ink each time you stamp this gives it that vintage look. I reloaded ink after every 3rd time stamping.  Curl the ends of each petal then add dimension with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L  3D Foam Squares between each flower. Attach the Tiny Tattered Floral to the center.  For the base I cut the Sizzix Box, Recipe by Designer Eileen Hull using Mat Board.

Photo5

I stamped this Magenta grassy stamp with more Ground Espresso Distress Ink along the edges of the Sizzix Box, Cookie Die and the top of the die. Then I inked all the edges to give it a grungy look.  To attach the Box Cookie die I used Extreme Double Sided tape.  Then I stamped this cute Magenta Treasured Moments stamp onto the Sizzix Tabs and Tags min tag.   Pull it all together and then I added some embellishment with Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Charms.

I love the Poppy on the Box, Cookie die.

I try to always add metal where I can and these charms are perfect! I simply added some Twine to the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Believe Charm. Then I attached this adorable metal pinecone to the tiny tag.

I simply added some Twine to the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Believe Charm. Then I attached this adorable metal pinecone to the tiny tag. The Magenta Nuance Powders are stunning!

Another Emerald Creek Craft Supply Metal Charm in the center of the flower reminds me of the metal buttons on a solider uniform.

Photo10

This Flourish Heart Mageneta Stamped at the tips of each petal creates a vintage look. By inking the edges it grunges right up.

The Box, Cookie Sizzix Die stamped and inked is great platform for this Poppy.
