WHERE YOU CREATE with Kelly Clarke

I am sure by now your lives are settling back into the routine of school, work and homework. Mornings are substantially darker when the alarm goes off and the evenings are cooler. We still have a couple weeks of summer, but the signs lead us to autumn. Although I enter September with a smile; I love the cooler days and nights [23C is perfect in my world!], I am sad to see the somewhat unstructured days of summer begin to be a memory. I’m sure it’s because I know what potential harsh winter weather is down the pipes!

For now though I enjoy evenings spent indoors in my craft room scrapbooking, a hobby that gets very little of my time when it’s hot and humid! If the change in weather hasn’t sparked your creativity…Kelley Clarke’s craft room certainly will! She’s opening her drawers for us to peek inside!

4up overview of room

A scrapbooker’s dream room! I think I might be storing WINE in that fridge!

I love my new Craft Space! It is so much better than being upstairs in a spare bedroom.

The main reason for building this room was so that didn’t have to decide between spending time with my family (my husband and my Dog) or doing some scrapbooking. I always felt guilty if I went upstairs to do crafts after supper instead of being with them, we decided to convert a portion of our basement into a craft space so that I could create and be with them at the same time. My new space looks right into our TV room. We can watch football, a movie or the news together.

LOVING!!! these trunks! Oh the treasures they could hold!

This makes me SO HAPPY, because I can be with all my loves at one time; my Husband, my Dog and of course Scrapbooking!

ink and stamp drawer

Easy access to ink and stamps!

die cuts and ribbon

Great ideas for ribbon and die cuts!

Stickles anyone???

I had to compromise a fair bit on the design. We built it more like a kitchen or bar area; even a kid’s play area so if it was not to being as a craft room it would make re-sale of our home easier. If we ever chose to do so! All-in all, it is still much better than being way up on the 3rd floor, all alone and in a very tight space.

I JUST LOVE MY NEW SPACE!!!!

Love the space!! and totally get being blessed to create while not being too far from the fam, my space is in the loaf overlooking our living room, so I can create while talking to them and listening to the TV. :)

Awesome scrap space! I also have my scrap area in our family room for the same reason…..I can visit with hubby, watch sports, or a movie together and not feel guilty about being in another room. We have just purchased a different home and I’m not sure it will work the same in our new home but since I am retired, maybe I can scrap during the day and spend time with hubby in the evenings. I have a question about your desk with shelves…..did someone make this or was it purchased! I love it! Thanks for sharing your super craft space.

WOW. Beautiful. My first scrap space was tucked in the corner of the family room and it certainly is a bonus because then you are able to still enjoy the evenings in front of the TV together – and still scrapbook. The idea to also built it as a second kitchen or Bar area is very smart in terms of resale – i actually thought you had a basement suite that you re-claimed as your scrap space. Love it!

This is amazing! Can I move in? I need to know one thing, where did you get that “caddy” on your desk? I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Love your space :-).

Your craft area is amazing! It is great that we have the opportunity to have our own space. My craft area was here in August, I guess you are just as pleased as I am to show your space. Have fun crafting!!!

Thank you to everyone for all your nice comments!
This space does truly make me smile when i come home from work and relax and get the creative juices flowing :-)
To answer a few of your questions, the butcher block top table/desk is from IKEA and the white caddy on top is from Michaels. The white shelving on the walls are from IKEA as well and are completely adjustable…and yes, i do rearrange things often :-)
